Completely forgot to do a blog post yesterday, even though I'm just at the start of my blogging marathon, but I'll do two today to make up for it! The following are a couple of pictures of the new paint job in our new guest community room. The first pic is blurry but does show the color nicely. It is called "Desert Rouge", and no, I didn't pick the color because it had the word "desert" in it! :) I actually had about 50 different terracotta, clay, rose colored paint samples to choose from. I narrowed it down to the last five, then the final two, and Audie made the final choice. We think this color really highlights the red, brown colors in the wood. This rouge color is on three of the walls.
And below the Ralph Lauren "Chamois" yellow color I picked for the south wall, which also is a great match with the wood. So the room has warmth, with the light clay color, and brightness with the yellow.
Yesterday afternoon we took a break from working and drove out on the Denali Highway. Usually closed all winter to vehicles, this is the time of year when the DOT begins to open the road. We drove as far as we could with the LandCruiser, which was only 13 miles. Let the dogs run off-leash, saw lots of ptarmigan, and basked in the warmth of the sun melting the snow all around us.

You made good paint choices - looks so good with your wood! haha - I had a sneaky feeling you picked that one color because of the word "desert" :) The Chamois is Ralph Lauren, you said, what brand is the Desert Rouge? Well worth all your efforts! How is your LandCruiser doing? I'm looking forward to taking a ride in it on my next trip!
Oh my goodness, that looks fantastic! I was curious about the colors but these make the place look so warm and light. Beautiful room!
Very nice! It's amazing how those colors make all that incredible woodwork really 'Pop!'
I deleted it because when I read it, it was so full of typos it was almost incomprehensible! What I wanted to say was that I absolutely love the colour choice - it makes the room look warm and inviting. I am just beginning the process of choosing colours for the new house - I am planning to be much bolder with colour than at Featherbed Fells - want to come down for a stretch as a consulant?
Hi Jessie! hmmmm....now that's definitely a job I'd love to take up! Saw your other comment too about November... you're planting a seed which will probably start to grow :)
I am so glad you have started writing more often. Even though I rarely comment (and God knows when I read my friends' diaries last with all the travelling we did last month), I really feel more connected to you and this is a good feeling because I love your fascination with the world that just oozes through the lines and in the room where I am. :)
